The Red-masked Parakeet is a medium-sized parrot from South America. There is a feral population of these birds which live in San Francisco and is the subject of the book and film, The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill. I see them all the time, often in the Pacific Heights area, and usually in the morning. They are very loud and you definitely hear them coming. In this painting, I matched the gray to the color of today's sky. Summer must be here (sigh)...

Since these ducks are not native to North America, I traveled three whole miles to photograph this one at the San Francisco zoo. This painting took four hours to complete, most are running three on average, but it is the weekend after all!
