The Red-masked Parakeet is a medium-sized parrot from South America. There is a feral population of these birds which live in San Francisco and is the subject of the book and film, The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill. I see them all the time, often in the Pacific Heights area, and usually in the morning. They are very loud and you definitely hear them coming. In this painting, I matched the gray to the color of today's sky. Summer must be here (sigh)...
